Zenoté Glow

Zenoté Glow is designed to soften the images of your footage. The effect can range from the subtle to the eerie. Many users find this plugin helpful for adding the look of various Pro Mist filters in post.

Size determines the overall size of the glow. Small amounts will be more subtle and confined to their original areas. This is the parameter that will most closely correlate with selecting a different amount of Pro Mist filter. For example, a lower number is like a 1/4 Pro Mist while a higher number is more like a 3/4 Pro Mist.

The amount parameter determines how much brighter the softened parts of the picture will be. As this number goes up, the areas of the image affected by the glow will have their brightness increased proportional to their original values. This means brighter areas will increase in brightness faster than darker areas.

The clipping value sets which parts of the image are selected for glow. A value of zero (0) will process the whole image and the results will be similar to adding a blur and brightness effect to the whole image. A value of 97 will only glow those pixels in the top 3% of possible brightness levels.

The blend determines the mixture of the glowing image and the original. A setting of zero (0) here will render the blur invisble and the result will be the original footage only. A value of fifty (50) will blend half way betwen the original and effected image. A selection of one hundred (100) will show you only the processed image.

The transfer mode allows you to set how you want the original image mixed with the glowing image. The possible choices for transfer mode are Normal, Darken, Lighten, Screen, Multiply, Difference and Additive.

  • Normal mode is the same as lighten mode.
  • Darken mode will compare the before and after image and take the darker pixel at each location in the image. This is useful to simulate a black pro mist filter and to accentuate edges and lines. This mode can create images that border on illustrations or water colors.
  • Lighten is similar to darken mode except that the lightest pixel is selected.
Screen blending mode will brighten the pixel based on how bright its original value is. A black pixel will not be lightened at all while a lighter pixel will have its value updated.
  • Multiply will mutiply the values of each image from the center value. This has the effect of making the darker pixels darker and the brighter pixels brighter.
  • Difference will compare the 2 images and will set the pixel vaule based on the difference between the 2. Where there is no change you will see the original image. Where there is a difference, the color will be brighter. This creates an interesting effect but does not result in realistic or natural world colors.
  • Additive will add the 2 images together. This is a good means for creating an effective glow on an image with highlights.

The Render Settings check box will allow you to render the current settings being used to your video for test and comparison purposes.
